Joseph Jones

Opelousas Services for Joseph Kirtley Kirt Jones, age 80, will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, La., followed by interment in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, La. The Father Albert Nunez will conduct the services.

Joseph, formerly of Washington, La. and a resident of Lafayette, La., passed away at 12:15 p.m. on Monday, January 17, 2011 at the Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, La.

He was a butcher at the Corner Pantry in Lafayette, La., a member of the Woodmen of the World and was an Army Sergeant and Medic in the Korean Conflict. He loved fishing, camping, hunting and riding fourwheelers. He also loved the outdoors, family events and saw humor in practically everything. He was an avid accordion, violinist and harmonica player. His final days were spent at home with the company of his puppies in his lap which he thoroughly enjoyed.

He is survived by his beloved friend, wife and companion of 49 years, Judy Quebedeaux Jones of Lafayette, La. his sons, Joseph Kirtley Joey Jones, Jr. of New Brighton, Pennsylvania Jonathan Earl Jones and wife, Monica, of Plano, Texas his brothers, Bernard Jones and wife, Joyce, of Washington, La. Curry Jones and wife, Anne, of Washington, La. and his sisters, Theresa Jones Mrs. Duggy Fisher and Betty Jones Mrs. George Fruge both of Washington, La. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Roxanne Hall, Carl J. Geib, Brianna Geib and 1 greatgrandchild, Corbin Hall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Houston and Onezia Devillier Jones his infant daughter his brothers, Duffy Jones, Joseph Blanchard Jones, Leon Lionel Jones his sisters, Amazie Jones Mrs. George Cahanin, Thelma Jones Mrs. Abey Dupre, Ruby Jones Mrs. Robert Guidry, Elsa Mae Jones and Neva Jones Mrs. Clifton Johnson.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and will reopen at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday until time of service. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
