Joseph Marks

Funeral services for Joseph Joe Marks will be held Monday December 11, 2006 at 10:00am in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Port Barre. Fr. Nicky Trahan will conduct the services. Pallbearers will be Mitch and Terry Ortego, Shannon Ardoin, Derek Richard, Brett Fuselier and Leroy Marks. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilbert T Marks and Seth Broussard.

Mr. Marks, age 92 died Saturday December 9, 2006 at 5:00am in Doctors Hospital in Opelousas. Mr. Marks was a lifelong resident of Opelousas, a hard worker up until the age of 90. He was a simple, kind and gentle man, who enjoyed playing his harmonica, playing booray and spending time with his family and friends whom he adored. He will be forever missed.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Amy Matte Marks of Opelousas, son; Harry J. Marks and wife Margaret of Port Barre, a sister; Laurie Marks Meche of Opelousas, 3 grandchildren; Sandy Ortego and husband Mitch of Opelousas, Trena Marks and husband Shannon Blue Ardoin of Port Barre and Anna Marks Gillen of Opelousas, 6 great grandchildren; Terry and Carly Ortego, Robyn and Derek Richard, Alexis and Mallory Gillen.

Preceded in death by his parents; Joseph Alexson Marks and Nedia Guilbeau Marks, siblings; Alex Marks, Lucuis Marks, Alfeus Marks, Oralie Marks, Anita M. Benoit, Lillian M. Marks, twin sister; Marie M. Robin, Altha M. Stoute and Philo Mena Marks.

Visitation will be Sunday December 10, 2006 from 3:00pm until 9:00pm and Monday from 8:00am until time of services. A rosary will be recited Sunday at 6:00pm.

Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on the Old Sunset Hwy. is in charge of the arrangements.
