Melville - Funeral services will be held Monday, September 8, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel for Joseph Houston Jarreau, III, 50, who passed away on Monday, September 1, 2008 at his residence in Melville, La. Interment will follow in the Baptist Cemetery in Melville, La. Brother Buddy Webb will conduct the services.
Mr. Jarreau was born in Baton Rouge, La. He graduated from Glen Oaks High School and attended the LSU Law Enforcement Academy. He was employed with the East Baton Rouge Sheriffs Office for 23 years. He was also a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, La. Jay loved to hunt and fish and just being outdoors. He would always put 110 into whatever tasks that he was doing. He loved to cook whether it was in the kitchen or on the grill. Jays main goal was helping around the yard with his Mom, Dad and Grandmother. He would help anyone in need of help or assistance with any task or job that needed doing. He was an avid LSU fan and loved LSU football and baseball.
Mr. Jarreau is survived by his wife, Kathy Jarreau of Melville, La.; his two sons, David Jarreau and his wife, Mindy, of Denham Springs, La.; Chad Jarreau and his wife, Lindsey, of Zachary, La.; his daughter, Amanda Jarreau of Baton Rouge, La.; his brothers, Kim Jarreau and his spouse, Linda, of Denham Springs, La.; Randy Jarreau and his spouse, Robin, of Gonzales, La.; his sister, Karen Jarreau Long and her spouse, David, of Walker, La.; two brother-in-laws, James David Caskey and his spouse, Bonita, of Jonesboro, La.; Grady Edward Caskey and his spouse, Brenda, of Knoxville, Tennessee; his step-daughter, Kristi Trawick and her husband, Paul, of Holden, La.; his step-son, Mark Daniels and his spouse, Mica, of Albany, La.; his step-grandchildren, Brandon and Zachary Trawick and Dalton and Vivian Leigh Ann Daniels; his paternal grandmother, Rosa Lee Devillier of Melville, La.; his parents, Joseph H. Jarreau, Jr. and Barbara Ann Bobbi Bourgeois Jarreau of Melville, La. and his four grandchildren, Peyton Jarreau; Grace Jarreau; Logan Jarreau and Connor Jarreau. He is also survived by his beloved special pet Sandy.
Pallbearers will be Greg McLean; John Labatut; Chad Jarreau; David Jarreau; Randy Jarreau and John Cormier. Honorary pallbearers will be the deputies of the Judicial Process Division of East Baton Rouge Sheriffs Office.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, September 7, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will re-open on Monday, from 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be held on Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
