Opelousas - Funeral services for Doug Hidalgo, age 48, will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas.

The Reverend Paul Bienvenu will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial.

Mr. Hidalgo, died at 3:45 a.m. Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Opelousas General Health System.

Doug loved the outdoors, working in the yard, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Mr. Hidalgo is survived by his mother, Joyce Fisette and fiance, Craig Bellfy of Lewisburg; three step-daughter, April Richard, Amanda and Kelly Miller, all of Rayne; sister, Jerilyn Hidalgo Richard and husband Patrick of Opelousas; a niece, Macy Richard; six step-grandchildren, Victoria Miller, Dylan Richard, Brennen and Bryson Broussard, Kelsey Richard, and Diego Redondo.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Marie Chautin Hidalgo; his father, John Edward Hidalgo and a sister, Jeanine Faith Hidalgo.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, June 13, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2008, until time of service. A rosary will be held on Friday, June 13, 2008, at 7:00 p.m.
