Joseph Devillier, Jr.

Krotz Springs - Funeral services will be held for Joseph "Dewey" Devillier, Jr. at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015, in the First Baptist Church of Krotz Springs. Brother Chad Bolfa and Brother Mike Devillier will conduct the funeral service. Interment will be held at the church cemetery.

Mr. Dewey, age 86, a resident of Krotz Springs, LA died on Thursday, June 4, 2015, at his residence surrounded by his loving and caring family.

Mr. Dewey served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during WWII. He was a retired pile driver with BOH Bros. Construction. He was a member of the carpenters local New Orleans and Baton Rouge, LA #1098. He was a commercial fisherman, an author as well as a publisher of two cook books. In his spare time he enjoyed making cypress swings. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Martha Bell Milstead Devillier, of Krotz Springs, LA; his sons, Mitchell Devillier and wife, Tina, of Opelousas, LA; J.D. Devillier and wife, Farah, of Krotz Springs, LA; Keith Devillier and wife, Melanie, of Krotz Springs, LA; his daughters, Anita Blackwell and husband, Don, of Nashville, TN; Nellie Devillier of Krotz Springs, LA; Gwen Nohra and fiancé, Trent, of Darrow, LA; his sister, Gloria Johnson and husband, Wilmar, of Krotz Springs, LA; his brother-in-law, L.C. Milstead and his wife, Diane, of Natchitoches, LA and his sisters-in-law, Carolyn Marcelli and husband, Jimmy, of Clarence, LA and Diane Devillier of Krotz Springs, LA. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Dewey Deviller, Sr. and Selise Moreau Devillier; his brothers, Hubert Devillier, Sonny Devillier, Glynn Devillier; his sisters, Ina Claire Perkins and Pat Devillier.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Krotz Springs on Friday, June 5, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. (open all night) until time of service on Saturday.
