Joseph C. Dupre passed away peacefully on October 30, 2024, at the Carpenter House in Lafayette, Louisiana. Born on August 10, 1947, in Oakdale, Louisiana, Joseph lived a life filled with dedication to family, service, and his passions. He was a life-long resident of Prairie Ronde.
A visitation will take place on Sunday, November 3, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home, with a Rosary being recited that evening at 6:00 PM by Deacon Dwayne Joubert. Visitation will continue on Monday, November 4, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Landry Catholic Church at 10:00 AM celebrated by Father Henry Antony, followed by the Rite of Committal at Bellevue Memorial Park.
He proudly served his country in both the Army and Navy, embodying the values of commitment and duty. His military service was a testament to his strong character and willingness to support and protect his fellow citizens. After returning from his service, he worked in shipyards for many years. Outside of his career, Joseph channeled his creativity and skill into his woodworking, a hobby that provided him with immense joy and fulfillment. He cherished the time spent outdoors, engaging in activities such as hunting and fishing, where he found solace and connection with nature.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 56 years, Florence Lalonde Dupre of Prairie Ronde; his son, Joseph Brad Dupre, of Prairie Ronde; his daughters, Elizabeth Miller and her husband, Patrick of Chataignier, Mona Franks and her husband, Daniel of Prairie Ronde and Sherry Pommier and her husband, Mike of Ville Platte; his brothers, Johnny Chautin and his wife, Gayle of Cecilia, Ronnie Chautin and his wife, Beverly of Opelousas and Gary Chautin of Opelousas; his sister, Mary Thibodeaux and her husband, Glenn of Opelousas; his 12 grandchildren, Aaron Miller, Victoria Miller, Gavin Franks, Madeline Franks Freeman and her husband, Steven, Shelbie David and her husband, Bryce, Blake Dupre, Bryce Dupre, Sierra Morris, Olivia Buller, Isaac Buller, Hannah Pommier and Bentley Pommier; his 16 great-grandchildren and a host of numerous other dear family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Estelle Richard Dupre Chautin; his father, Medric Dupre; his brother, Ray Dupre; and his sister, Belinda Chautin.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Miller, Chris Chautin, Bryce David, James Lalonde, Isaac Buller and Shawn Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Dupre and Gavin Franks.
Joseph will be missed profoundly by his community and everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
