Opelousas - Funeral services for Joseph M. Jim Andrus, age 88, will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. in the St. Landry Catholic Church, followed by interment in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, La.

Monsignor Robert Romero will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial.

Joseph M. Andrus, a native and resident of Opelousas, died at 11:15 p.m. on August 5, 2008 at the Tri-Community Nursing Home.

Mr. Andrus was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a foreman with the City of Opelousas. Musical selections will be performed by Valerie Andrus, the songs will include: How Great Thou Art, Just a Closer Walk With Thee, On Eagles Wings and Go Rest High On That Mountain.

Mr. Andrus was survived by his son, Joseph M. Andrus, Jr. of Port Barre, La. He is also survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. Andrus was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Devillier Andrus and his parents, Milton Andrus and Rita Lee.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will re-open on Thursday, from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

A rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2008.
