Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Jonier Paul Sonnier, age 75, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 in the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. Interment will follow in the St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery in Plaisance.
Mr. Sonnier who was a native and lifelong resident of Plaisance died on Saturday, March 13, 2010, in the Jennings American Legion Hospital. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Fannie Wedlock Sonnier of Jennings sons, Darral G. Sonnier and wife Tiffany M. Sonnier of Jennings, Paul E. Tate of Abbeville, and Richard Tate of Jennings daughter, Grace T. Rogers and husband Paul P. Rogers of Marrero, LA brother, Carroll Sonnier and wife Pearl of Opelousas five sisters, Terry Stelly and husband Lynic, Mary Vidrine and husband Jerry all of Plaisance, Cassie Deville and husband Woodrow, Jeanelle Thompson and husband Jerry and Connie Guidry all of Opelousas four grandchildren, Blain Sonnier, Bailey Sonnier, Dana G. Walker, and Jenna Gaspar and two great grandchildren, Toriann Ealem and Isabella Bertot.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clester and Luday Bordelon Sonnier two brothers, Taylor and Millard Sonnier and two nephews, Carl Deville and Keith Gile.
Pallbearers will be Trenton Karan, Blain Sonnier, Paul Rogers, Brennen Meaux, Darral Sonnier, and Elick Dupre.
Visitation will be held in the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home in Opelousas beginning Monday, March 15, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m., with a rosary scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and will reopen on Monday at 8:00 a.m. until time of services.
