Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial for Johnny M. Rabalais will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013, in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, LA with Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen as the Celebrant.
Mr. Rabalais, age 89, a resident of Opelousas, LA died on Monday, January 14, 2013, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Johnny served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He served in the European Theatre. He was a graduate of Pollock High School, attended Tulane University and graduated from Louisiana College. He was former owner of Opelousas Radio and Equipment for over 40 years. Other civic organizations which he was a member were the American Legion, the VFW, Kiwanis and the Opelousas Rotary. He was an avid tennis player and coach and he loved his two granddaughters dearly. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife Pat Rabalais of Opelousas, LA his son, Brian P. Carroll and his wife, Melanie, of Opelousas, sLA and two granddaughters, Chelsea Carroll and Sloane Carroll.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Milton Rabalais and Mary Etta Hudson Rabalais and his brother, Percy Rabalais.
Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday by Deacon Sammy Diesi.
Pallbearers will be Jim Ryan, Winton Vidrine, Taylor Davie, Chuck Clary, Kenny Dejean and Utley Wyble.
