Visiting for Johnny Lee Desoto will be held at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Melville on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Melville Baptist Cemetery.
Mr. Desoto, a resident of Krotz Springs, LA, died on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Heritage House of Baton Rouge Nursing Home.
Johnny served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a welder and pipefitter for Georgia Pacific for many years. Johnny took pride in the workshop he built and the machinery in it. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sons, Gregory John Desoto, Brandon Lee Desoto and wife, Michelle; his daughters, Melinda Desoto, Ellen Desoto Schweitzer and husband, Jim; his sisters, Vera Mae Boggess and husband, Jimmy and Ruth Miller. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Eric Schweitzer, Savanna Schweitzer, Tristan Desoto and Payten Desoto.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee and Ivy Billeaudeau Desoto; his brothers, Nelson Desoto, Clyde Desoto and his sisters, Leona Lockwood and Elaine Lokey.
The family would like to thank Lifesource Hospice for the care given to Mr. Desoto.
