John Rosique

Krotz Springs - Services for Mr. John Edward Rosique, 84, will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Krotz Springs followed by interment in the First Baptist Cemetery in Krotz Springs. Reverend Chad Bolfa will officiate the services.

Mr. Rosique, a resident of Port Barre, died at his residence on Monday, October 19, 2009, at 2:00 a.m.

He was the owner and operator of Johnnys Air Conditioning Heating: there wasnt anything he couldnt fix, build, or repair. His favorite saying was Theres a trick to that.

He was a Master Mason for over 60 years, and was a member of the Humble Cottage Lodge 19 of Opelousas, where he served as Secretary and Past Master. He was a past High Priest of the Gordy Chapter 22 Royal Arch Masons of Opelousas. Mr. Rosique was a York Rite KYCH member, and in 2009, was appointed Grand Principal Conductor of the Council of Cryptic Masons of Louisiana. During WWII he assisted in building flight simulators for the B-29 planes.

He is survived by Priscilla Israel of Port Barre, La.; his sons, John Edward Rosique, Jr. and wife, Maxine, of Long Beach, California; Bruce Rosique and wife Diana, of Clovis, California; David Rosique and wife, Terry, of Oak Hills, California; his daughter, Beverly Rosique of Carson City, Nevada and his sister, Violet Montgomery of Flomaton, Alabama. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Sarah, Darla, Tommy, Joseph, Jennie, William, Delisa, Lisa, Jeremy, Jason and 6 great-grandchildren, Tori, Asha, Michael, Justice, Kathleen and Jacob.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Andrew Rosique and Carry Barnes Rosique; his son, Richard Rosique; his daughter, Linda Irvin

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Krotz Springs on Friday, October 23, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and will re-open at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2009 until service time.
