John Lopushansky

Opelousas-Funeral services for John Fitzgerald Lopushansky will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2021, in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, La.  Rev. Fr. Gregory Simien will officiate the services.

Interment will be at St. John Berchman's Catholic Church Cemetery in Cankton, Louisiana at a later date.

Visitation will be held at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on June 12, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with recitation of the Rosary at 11:30 a.m.

John Fitzgerald Lopushansky, age 56, of Lawtell, Louisiana, passed away on June 9, 2021, at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette, Louisiana.

John was born in Steubenville, Ohio on February 16, 1965.  He went to high school at Mingo High in Mingo Junction, Ohio and graduated in 1984.  He worked as a handyman, plumber and roofer throughout his life.  John enjoyed traveling, spending time at the beach, motorcycle riding and being with his family, his wife, Debbie, and their beloved dog, Sylvester.  He was a kind and loving person who enjoyed life with family and friends.

John is survived by his wife of 18 years, Debbie Bergeron Lopushansky of Lawtell, Louisiana; his brother, Alex Lopushansky and his wife, Gay of Dayton, Texas; his brother, Peter J. Lopushanskyof Mingo Junction, Ohio; his sister, Penny Davis and her husband, Kenny of Steubenville, Ohio; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Judy Touchet of Opelousas, Louisiana; his step-daughters, Amber Rome and her husband Chris, of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana; Amanda Russell and her husband, Nick of Friendsville, Tennessee; three step-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces whom he loved very much.

John is preceded in death by his father, Theodore Alexander Lopushansky and his mother, Shirley Yvonne Lopushansky of Mingo Junction, Ohio.
