John Lavergne

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for John Allen Lavergne at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2014in the Sacred Heart Chapel in Prairie Ronde, LA. Rite of Committal will be held in the church cemetery. The Reverend Ted Broussard will Celebrate the Mass.

Mr. Lavergne, age 65, who was a resident of Opelousas, LA, died on Friday, October 17, 2014 at a Lafayette, LA hospital.

John was retired from the working in the oilfield. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and especially working in his shop repairing and tinkering with various things. John was a sports fan, specifically watching the New Orleans Saints. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Leona Prevost Lavergne of Opelousas, LA daughters, Rebecca Lavergne of Opelousas and Koddie Lynn AlRahbi of Muscat, Oman brother, Lionel Lavergne of Utah sisters, Mary Bergeron of Prairie Ronde and Leona Elkins of Opelousas, LA grandchildren, Alexis Nezat, Sarah Guilbeau, Abdullah AlRahbi, Sammy AlRahbi, and Aather AlRahbi.

He is preceded in death by his father, Lonnie Lavergne, his mother Lorena Castille Lavergne, and his sister, Mary Dupre.

The family requests visiting in the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home in Opelousas beginning Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday the funeral home will reopen at 8:00 a.m. until service time.
