Krotz Springs - Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. John "Dean" Guidry will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021, in the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Krotz Springs. Rev. Fr. Michael DeBlanc will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the St. Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery in Krotz Springs.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John "Dean" Guidry on Sunday, March 7, 2021, at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice in Baton Rouge, at the age of 67. He was born in Opelousas, a native of Krotz Springs, and a resident of Denham Springs for many years.
Dean was an Inspector and Deputy State Fire Marshal for over 20 years with the LA State Fire Marshal’s Office.
He was a longtime parishioner of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Baton Rouge and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs. He was a Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council No. 6326 of Denham Springs. He was a co-worker with the Missionaries of Charity in Baton Rouge for over 30 years and a volunteer firefighter with the Eastside Fire Dept. in Baton Rouge. He enjoyed doing woodworking projects, fishing, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Dean will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by wife of 33 years, Kim Sistrunk Guidry of Denham Springs; two daughters, Tara Guidry of Livingston; and Emily Guidry of Denham Springs; brother, Kerry Guidry and wife, Susan of Krotz Springs; sister, Annette Guidry of Krotz Springs; brothers-in law, Keith Sistrunk of LaPlace; Stan Sistrunk of Denham Springs; Terry Sistrunk and wife of Thailand; Mark Sistrunk and wife, Donna of Grangeville; and Tim Sistrunk and wife, Ellen of Baton Rouge; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Jessie Guidry and Mary Louise Morain Guidry; brother, Ronald Guidry; and nephew, Joey Guidry.
Visitation will be held in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Krotz Springs on Thursday, March 11, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. The funeral home will reopen on Friday, March 12, 2021, from 8:00 a.m. until 12:40 p.m.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church in Krotz Springs, Missionaries of Charity in Baton Rouge, or to a charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank Dr. Cataldo, Dr. Wang and the staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and the staff of The Crossing at Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Dean and the family.
Pallbearers will be Kerry Guidry, Tim Guidry, Bubba Marcantel, Marty Hoyt, Derek Guidry, and Hunter Guidry.
