John Duos

Washington - A Mass of Christian Burial for John Kirtland Duos, known to many as "Kat" will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018, in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington. Reverend Father Matthew Higginbotham will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington.

Mr. Kat, age 84, was a native of Vidrine and a longtime resident of Opelousas. He passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Opelousas General Health System. He was the owner of Duos Dirt, Sand, and Gravel for 25 years and Duos Produce for 20 years. He enjoyed working in his garden, fishing, and camping. He cherished spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Earlene Bibbs Duos of Opelousas; son, Jean' Shane Duos and wife, Mia Andrus Duos of Nuba; daughter, Tiffany Duos Soileau and husband, Christopher Chad Soileau of Lafayette; brother, Carrol "Brud" Duos and wife, Jane of Ville Platte; 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean' Duos, Jr. and Mary Dovey Deshotel Duos; and grandson, Jean' Todd Duos.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2018, at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. On Saturday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

A Rosary will be recited on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. in funeral home.

Pallbearers will Jean' Duos, Chad Soileau, Chad Hebert, Carrol "Brud" Duos, Troy Breaux, Nick Mizzi. Honorary pallbearers will be Collin Soileau, Iassic, Andrew, and Nicholas Guillory.
