Krotz Springs - Mass of Christian Burial for John M. David, known to many as "Johnny" will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, in St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Krotz Springs. Reverend Fr. Jason Vidrine and Reverend Fr. Robert Courville will concelebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will follow in the St. Anthony Church Cemetery in Krotz Springs. The readings will be done by Deacon Mitch Hebert. The gift bearers will be Mike David and Aubrey Soileau.

Johnny, age 86, was a native of Livonia and a longtime resident of Krotz Springs. He passed away on Sunday, May 14, 2017, at Opelousas General Health System. He was a U. S. Army National Guard Veteran who proudly served his country. He was a Fourth Degree Knight and member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3496 of Port Barre. He was a volunteer fireman with the Krotz Springs Fire Dept. for over 60 years. He cherished his time spent with his family and friends. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Velma David of Krotz Springs; son, Mike David and wife, Alyson of Opelousas; two daughters, Melinda David LeBlanc of Port Barre; and Johnny Marie "Boo Boo" David Soileau and husband, Aubrey of Port Barre; his 15 grandchildren: Daniel David and wife, Nicky; Zachary David and wife, Jenn; Andrew David, Aaron David, Ali David, Chris David and wife, Kylie; Casey David, Kelly McCormick and husband, Shane; Drew LeBlanc and wife, Heidi; B. J. LeBlanc, Travis Soileau and wife, Brandi; Liddy Henry and husband, Owen; Matthew Soileau and wife, Megan; John Soileau and wife, Ashley; and Katie Soileau; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert David; son-in-law, Barry LeBlanc; his parents, Emeric David, Sr. and Mary David; brothers, Clifford David, Oscar David, and Emeric David, Jr.; and sisters, Laura Jarreau, Rozina Anderson, Mary Helen David, and Evelina David.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Krotz Springs. On Wednesday, visitation will continue from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
A Prayer service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning in the funeral home. A Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening in the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Daniel David, Travis Soileau, Matthew Soileau, John Soileau, Drew Leblanc and Aaron David.
