John Aucoin

A Mass of Christian Burial for John Earl Aucoin will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. The interment will take place at Bellevue Memorial Park. Reverend James Brady will celebrate the Mass. All are welcome to attend and celebrate John Earl Aucoin's Life.

Mr. Aucoin, age 65, former resident of Opelousas and a resident of Denham Springs, died of Alzheimer's disease on August 2, 2015 at the LA Maison Leisure Living Home in Denham Springs, LA. Mr. Aucoin was born on November 30, 1949 in Opelousas, Louisiana, the son of Cleo and Thelma Bibbs Aucoin. John enjoyed all sports especially bowling and playing softball and baseball. He loved LSU Tailgating, farming, and spending time with friends and family. He graduated from Opelousas High School in 1969 and after he proudly served his country in the US Army. He went to work as a fireman for 7 years and at Bellard's Poultry where he loyally worked since the age 16 years old until he recently retired.

His friends and family will always remember John as someone that would have done anything for anybody.

Mr. Aucoin is survived by his son John Nicholas Aucoin and his wife Christy of Geismar, LA. Surviving grandchildren are John Wesley Aucoin and Clayton Renaud; brother Lonnie Aucoin and his wife Debbie; sister Bennie Hargroder; step-children: Erica Reed, Amber Vidrine, Zack Reed, Lindsay Rider and their families; previous wife Mary Guidroz Aucoin; nephews and nieces: JB Hargroder, Phillip Hargroder, Angela Credeur, Tara Abshire and their families, and too many friends that were like his family to list.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Cleo and Thelma Bibbs Aucoin, his brother Ivan Aucoin, sister Brenda Guillory and his brother-in-law John Berchman Hargroder.

Visitation is scheduled at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA on August 4, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. until time of services. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. by Deacon Dwayne Joubert.
