A Mass of Christian Burial for Joel Dubby Whitfield, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 11, 2011 in the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Palmetto, LA, followed by interment in the church cemetery. The Reverend James Nguyen will be the celebrant of the Mass.

Dubby was born in Palmetto, LA, June 21, 1937, the son of Waford H. Whitfield and Gertrude Soileau Whitfield of Palmetto. He was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge and worked in the HVACMechanical Industry and retired in 2008.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marie Whitfield son, Joel K. Whitfield daughter, Lori Whitfield Holloway grandson, Grant Shrader granddaughter, Kelcie Holloway daughterinlaw, Dena Whitfield, and soninlaw Donald Holloway, II.

Visiting will be held in the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas from 5:00 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011 and will reopen on Friday at 8:00 a.m. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
