Joann Lavergne

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial, for JoAnn E. LaVergne, will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 20, 2012 at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, La. with Monsignor Louis Melancon. A private burial will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery at a later date.

Mrs. LaVergne, age, 70, a resident of Plaisance, La., died on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Opelousas General Health System.

JoAnn will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her sons, David Aucoin of Washington, La. Chuck Aucoin and wife, Sonya, of Leonville, La. David LaVergne and Chris LaVergne both of Colorado Jake LaVergne, Jr. and wife, Ann, of Lafayette, La. Micky LaVergne and wife, Stefanie, of Mamou, La. Ricky LaVergne of Plaisance, La. Mitch LaVergne and wife, Nicole, of Plaisance, La. her daughters, Debbie Leger and husband, Lambert, of Opelousas, La. Teena LaVergne of Church Point, La. her brothers, Percy Elter of Washington, La. and Danny Elter and wife, Theresa, of Spring, Texas. She is also survived by 31 grandchildren and 25 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jake LaVergne, Sr. her parents, Carl and Mildred Elter her brother, Carl Elter, Jr. her sisters, Edna Elter Broussard, Barbara Elter David, Sharon Elter Veillon and her grandson, Jeremy Aucoin.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, beginning on Thursday, July 19, 2012, from 3:00 p.m. open all night until service time at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
