Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Joan LeBlanc McCarthy at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas, La. Reverend Gary Schexnayder will conduct the service. Burial will be held in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. brbrMrs. McCarthy, age 79, a resident of Opelousas, La., died on Wednesday, February 26, 2014, at her residence. brbrJoan will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.brbrSurvivors are her husband of 58 years, James M. McCarthy, Sr., M.D. of Opelousas, La.; her son, James M. McCarthy, Jr., M.D. Kim of Lafayette, La.; her daughters, Jan M. Martin and husband, Keith, of Lafayette, La.; Jennifer M. Steckler Darrell Rabeaux of Lafayette, La.; Joan M. McCarthy of Lafayette, La.; Julie A. McCarthy Shannon Holt of Baton Rouge, La. and her sister, Helen LeBlanc Basile of Opelousas, La. and her sisters-in-law, Dot Bruner of Port Barre, La. and Ann McMahon of Huntsville, Alabama. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Jude Martin Misty, Emma Martin, Meaghan Steckler Ben Scola, Annie McCarthy, Mollie McCarthy, Evan and Natalie Rabeaux.
