Jimmie D. Belleau, a retired truck driver passed away on August 13, 2008 after a long struggle with cancer. He was born in Opelousas, LA on January 16, 1943 and lived most of his life in Baton Rouge. He was a 1960 graduate of Eunice High School and attended LSU. He is a veteran of the Louisiana National Guard, 769 Engineering Battalion.
Visitation will be held at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the Old Sunset Highway in Opelousas from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2008 with the recitation of the rosary at time pending. Religious services will be held at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell, LA at time pending, on Friday, August 15, 2008. Internment will follow at St. Anne Cemetery in Mallet.
He is survived by a daughter Jeanne Belleau Bordelon and her children Grace, Jackson and Christian Alex Bordelon, a son, Jimmie Jimbo D. Belleau, Jr., stepchildren Kristin Kimball and Kenneth Kimball, and their mother Glenda Shows Belleau. He is also survived by his parents, Marjorie and Herbert Belleau, two sisters, Gail Belleau Mrs. Hall Smith Smitty Hanks and Dr. Bonnie Belleau, a brother, Calvin Mrs. Carla Belleau and uncle, Dr. Charles D. Mrs. Mary Belleau, aunts Shirley Moreau Mrs. James Guillory and Juliet Moreau Cahanin and a very special friend Joanne Kelleher. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Adia and Edless Belleau and Bill and Marie Moreau and his aunts Beverly Moreau Caillouet and Irma Moreau Miller.
Pallbearers will be Jimbo Belleau, Calvin Belleau, Brian Belleau, Brandon Trahan, Dr. Charles Belleau, and Smitty Hanks.
