Opelousas - Funeral services will be held for JF "Jeff" Tidwell at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 9, 2017, at the First Baptist Church of Opelousas. Burial will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Eunice, LA. Reverend Perry Hubbs will conduct the service.

Mr. Tidwell, age 79, a resident of Opelousas, LA, passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at Opelousas General Health System.

Jeff owned and operated Standard Building Corporation for many years. He was a deacon at the First Baptist Church of Opelousas and a trustee of the LHBA-SIF organization, a past member the Opelousas Community Choir, the Indian Hills Country Club and the Opelousas Kiwanis Club. He loved playing a round of golf and watching LSU football. In 2005, Jeff was the recipient of the LHBA Hall of Fame Award. Jeff had a wonderful sense of humor and loved picking on his sisters, his children, his grandchildren and his great-grandchild. Jeff will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife whom he married in 1960, Judith O'Brien Tidwell of Opelousas, LA; his son, Jay Mark Tidwell and wife, Christine of Opelousas, LA; his daughter, Jana Kay Tidwell and Stacey Heald of Pineville, LA; and his sister, Frankye Tidwell Hunt and husband, Don of Fort Worth, TX. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Chasidy Nicole Tidwell and fiancé, Devin West, Jaci Mae Tidwell, Corey Duos and wife, Molly; and one great-grandchild, Kyndall Nicole West.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeff Tidwell and Ezra Mae Ryon; his step-mother, Bertie Tidwell; his sisters, Marjorie Tidwell Head and husband, Harrison and Ermine Tidwell Walker; his niece, Brenda Head Bethea; and his sister-in-law, Janet O'Brien Rozas and husband, Robert.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, December 8, 2017, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM. On Saturday, the funeral home will reopen at 10:00 AM until 1:30 PM.
