Jeanne Robin

Opelousas - Funeral services will be held for Jeanne DeValcourt Robin, age 94, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Burial will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church Cemetery in Grand Coteau, LA. The Very Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will conduct the funeral service.

Mrs. Robin, a resident of Opelousas, LA and a native of Lawtell, LA, died on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas.

She was a member of the Opelousas Garden Club, ABWA, the Elks Auxiliary and the Pink Ladies of Doctor's Hospital. She was also an alumni of the New Orleans Charity Hospital of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse in both public and private sectors and eventually retired in 1982.

Survivors include her husband, Ames J. Robin, Jr.; one son, Elmo "Sonny" DeValcourt and wife, Jeane; one daughter, Susan Marie DeValcourt, both of Opelousas, LA; three step-children, Tommy Robin and Donna Robin of Charlotte, NC; and Lisa Oldroyd and husband, Brian, of Lafayette, LA; two grandchildren, Phillip DeValcourt, Todd DeValcourt and wife, Ellen; two great-grandchildren, Andrew DeValcourt and Ryan DeValcourt.

Mrs. Robin was preceded in death by her parents, T.P. and Mable Lafleur Bertrand; her first husband, Elmo "Momo" DeValcourt; one brother, T.P. Bertrand, Jr. and one sister, Lorraine Cormier Bergeron.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Nursing Home and Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care for the compassion and care they gave Jeanne.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, May 21, 2015, from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Friday. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday by Deacon Jerome Collins.
