Jean Marks

Opelousas Funeral services for Jean Merrick Marks will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2012, in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, LA with Reverend Paul Bienvenu.

Mr. Marks, age 85, a resident of Opelousas, LA died on Monday, November 19, 2012, at Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas, LA.

Jean served his country proudly during WWII in the United States Navy. He loved gardening, fishing and hunting. He also was a member of the Laborers Union. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his sons, Jean H. Marks and wife, Janice, of Opelousas, LA James Jim W. Marks and wife, Debbie, of Opelousas, LA Timothy J. Marks and wife, Cindy, of Opelousas, LA his daughters, Linda Dreher and husband, Wilton, of Centerville, Mississippi Christine Roy and husband, Charlie, of Lafayette, LA and his sister, Anna Jane Marks, of Lafayette, LA. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Tracy Marks, Stacy Wimberly, Melissa Lee, Blake Marks, Jeremy Williams, Jason Williams, Joshua Hendl, Justin Roy, Brennan Roy, Christian Roy, April Gautreaux, Sierra Richard, Weston Marks, Korrin Marks and 10 greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lizzie Mae Badeaux Marks his parents, Emar and Justine Arceneaux Marks his brothers, Charles Marks, Joseph Marks, Amar Dudley Marks and his sister, Mabel Kidder.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Friday, November 23, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. until time of service. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
