Janice Marks

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Janice Darbonne Marks, age 55, at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2016, in the Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Reverend Gregory Simien will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will take place at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Readers will be Alitha Wiltz, Tanya Thibodeaux and Romona Darbonne. Gift bearers will be Sonya Gorrel, Brooke Brown and Cathy Speyrer.

Janice, a resident of Opelousas, LA, died peacefully on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.

Janice was a great cook. She and her mother baked wonderful blackberry, pecan, sweet potato and apple pies to name a few. "Granny" loved her grandchildren with all her heart. She always did for everyone else even when she may have been in need. Janice was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother who will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Larry Marks, of Opelousas, LA; her son, Jordan Guidroz and fiance, Katie Dupre, of Lawtell, LA; her daughters, Danielle Leger and husband, Robert "Bubba", of Opelousas, LA; Ashley Thurston and husband, Robert, of Church Point, LA; Kimberly Primeaux and husband, Kevin, of Broussard, LA; her sister, Angela Darbonne, of Opelousas, LA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Hunter Marks, Alissia Johnson, Benton Johnson, Laila Marks, Devan Marks, Kaileigh Marks, Haileigh Marks, Brendan Marks, Hayden Thurston, Kayden Thurston, Brenden Thurston, Kaevin Primeaux, Kade Primeaux, Kaislyn Primeaux, Tristan Leger, Brett Guidroz, Bailee Guidroz and her 4 legged companions, Cinnamon and Lil Man.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Bernadine Fontenot Darbonne, her brother, Ferrell Darbonne, Sr. and a grandchild, "Baby K".

Pallbearers will be Robert Thurston, Kevin Primeaux, Shane Wiltz, Robert "Bubba" Leger, Ferrell Darbonne II and Jordan Guidroz. Honorary pallbearers will be Hunter Marks, Devan Marks, Kaevin Primeaux and A.J. Wiltz.

Visitation will be held at the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, March 21, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
