Opelousas - Memorial Services will be held for Jamie Lassere Melancon at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2018, in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. Deacon Shawn Melancon will officiate the service.

Jamie Lassere Melancon, age 46, was a native of New Orleans and a resident of Ville Platte, LA. She passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Opelousas General Health System.

Jamie loved being outdoors, hunting and gardening. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, who loved their "Gammie". She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her mother, Lona Robertson Lassere; her sons, Ryann Melancon and his wife, April, Dexter Melancon and the mother of his children, Kelsey Melancon and Brandon Melancon and his fiancé, Abby McDaniel; her life-partner, Michelle Soileau; brothers, David Lassere, Jr. and Ricky Lassere and his fiancé, Lori Roberie; twin sister, Aimee Lassere Vidrine and her husband, Jason; grandchildren, Rielynn, Kasen, Aubrie, Lilah, Austin, Devin and Layne; and her godchildren, Glynn, Noah, and Drake.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Lassere, Sr.; and maternal grandmother, Murtis Klootwyk.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Saturday, January 6, 2018, from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM. A Rosary service will be held at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that monetary donations be made to help defray the funeral expenses.
