James Romero

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 1:00pm on Tuesday September 4, 2012 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park with Reverend Paul Bienvenu as the Celebrant.

Mr. Romero, age 71, a resident of Opelousas, died Sunday September 2, 2012 at 5:00am at his residence. He was a retired office supplies salesman. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He loved spending time with his family, playing Bouret and riding horses.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Laura R. Romero of Opelousas, son, Shannon Drake Romero and wife Shawnee of Carencro, daughters, Carol Ann Bourque and husband Paul of Opelousas, Michelle R. Soileau and special friend Jamie Melancon of Ville Platte, brother, Whitney G. Romero and wife Flo of Henry, LA, sister, Mary Lou Bertrand and husband C.J. of Abbeville, grandchildren, Keisha Rene Daigle of Opelousas, Morgan Lee Romero of McKinney, TX, great grandson, William Drake Daigle of Opelousas and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Whitney and Etta Romero.

The family has requested visitation be held on Monday September 3, 2012 from 10:00am until 10:00pm and will reopen on Tuesday at 8:00am until time of services. A rosary will be recited on Monday at 7:00pm, by his wife Laura R. Romero and assisting her will be Deacon Tom Lindsey.

Pallbearers will be Paul Bourque, Cory Neveaux, Phillip Bertrand, John Fisher, Kelly Richard and C.J. Bertrand. Honorary pallbearer will be William Drake Daigle.
