James Wartelle

Opelousas - Funeral services for Mike Wartelle, age 41, will be held on Sunday, May 11, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home, followed by interment in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington.

The Reverend Benny Reppond will conduct the services.

Mike Wartelle, a native of Opelousas, died at 6:45 p.m. on May 9, 2008 at Doctors Hospital of Opelousas.

Mr. Wartelle will always be remembered as the shorter twin and also for his love of horses. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Mike is survived by his mother, Mary Myrna Leger Martin and husband John Terry of Lafayette; son, James Michael II and his mother Gretchen Barstow of River Ridge, LA; daughter, Meghan Grace and her mother Sandra Taylor of Opelousas; twin sister, Michele Wartelle Domec and husband Brian; brother David Scott Wartelle of Breaux Bridge; maternal grandfather, Camille Leger of Opelousas; step-father, Philip Moory of Sunset; two nieces, Brooke Lee Ortego and Camille Kate Domec.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Donald Wartelle; maternal grandmother, Mable Dupre Leger; paternal grandmother, Lucille Gay Wartelle Stagg; paternal grandfather, William Marshall Wartelle and paternal step-grandfather, Herchel Stagg.

Pallbearers will be Carl Soul Fontenot, Clint Carrier, Dwayne Leger, Scott Wartelle, Charles Hidalgo, and Brian Domec.

Honorary pallbearer will be Philip Moory.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Saturday, May 10, 2008 from 5:00- 10:00 p.m. and will re-open on Sunday from 8:00 a.m. until service time.
