James Leger

Funeral services for James P. Leger will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Church Point. The interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park. Monsignor Jeff DeBlanc will conduct the services.

Mr. Leger, age 77, died on Thursday, February 21, 2008 at Opelousas General Health Systems in Opelousas.

He is survived by his wife, of 53 years, Verna Mae Leger of Sunset; sons, Micky Leger and his wife, Tammy, of Church Point, Ricky Leger and his wife, Odelia, of Church Point, Shyne Leger and is wife, Beth, of Cankton; Mark Leger and his wife, Melinda, of Cankton and daughters, Lisa Leger of Sunset and Susan Estilette and her husband, Tony, of Church Point. He is also survived by his brothers, John Leger of Livingston, Texas; Paul Leger of Houston, Texas and a sister, Elizabeth Soileau of Lake Charles. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Micky Leger, Ricky Leger, Shyne Leger, Mark Leger, Tyler Leger and Tony Estilette. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony James Estilette, Ryan Estilette, E.J. Estilette, Cody Leger and Beau Leger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Leger, Sr. and Emma Leger; brothers, Remi Leger and Louis Leger, Jr.; and a sister, Vivian Soileau.

The family has requested that visitation be observed on Saturday, February 23, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. until time of service. A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
