James Leeper

Funeral services for Mr. James Malone Leeper will be held at 11:30AM Saturday, November 25th, 2006 at Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. A Mass service and a Rosary will be at 11:30 AM. The Rev. H.L. Brignac will conduct the service. Interment will follow at 3:00PM at Bellevue Memorial Park. Bishop Michael Jarrell will conduct the graveside services.

Mr. Leeper, 71, died November 20th, 2006 at Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma. He was a parishiner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Houma La. Mr. James M. Leeper Sr. attorney at law, was born in Denton County Texas.

He graduated from New Orleans Academy 1953. He served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957. Graduated from La. Tech University BS in General Business 1961. From 1961 to 1964 Adjuster for Insurance Co. of North America, New Orleans, La. Married February 9th, 1963. 1964 to 1968 partner and Agent at DeJean Leeper Insurance Agency, Opelousas La. He received Jurist Doctorate from Loyola University School of Law in1974. He worked as a Trust Officer, Bank of New Orleans 1968 to 1979. He was a Vice President and Trust Officer at First National Bank of Houma, Houma La from 1979 to 1987, a vice President and Trust Officer, American Bank Trust co, in New Orleans from 1987 to 1991. An Associate of Owen Bradley Law office in New Orleans, La. He was attorney at Law at Schrader Law Office of Houma La He retired in 1995.

He was the son of Horace Wilbur Leeper and Sarah Booth Malone, a loving husband of Marilynn DeJean Leeper for 43 years, A loving father of William DeJean Leeper, Elizabeth Malone Leeper Bussey and James Malone Leeper Jr. and his wife Tammy Leeper. A loving grandfather of Mindy Fanguy, Jason Matthew Giroir and Robert Michael Bussey. A loving brother of his sister Nancy Elizabeth Leeper Seitz and her husband Paul and his sister-in-law Gail Lavis and husband Dr. Charles Edward Lavis.

He is also survived by numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents Horace Wilbur and Sarah Booth Malone Leeper.

The family requested that visitation be observed on Saturday, November 25th, from 11:00AM till time of services.
