Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017 for James Lynwood "Duke" Hidalgo at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA. Rev. Father James Brady will officiate the Mass. Rite of Committal and interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.
Mr. Hidalgo, age 76, was a resident of Opelousas and passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017 at St. Landry Extended Care Hospital.
Duke was a former member of Knights of Columbus and he worked for F. Hidalgo & Son Plumbing and Wholesale for many years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sons, Michael L. Hidalgo and wife, Tonya of Opelousas and Steven G. Hidalgo of Texas; grandchildren, Jacob Hidalgo and wife, Robin; Christopher Hidalgo, Colleen Hidalgo and Daniel "Kyle" Hidalgo; great-grandchild, J'lynn Watson; mother of his children, Lois Guidry Hidalgo of Opelousas; sister, Gayle Fontenot and husband, Raphael of Opelousas; brother, Ray Hidalgo and wife, Peggy of Opelousas; sister-in-law, Deanna Hidalgo of Opelousas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix Hidalgo, Jr. and Milien Lafleur Hidalgo; brothers, Gerald Hidalgo and wife, Earline Hidalgo; and Harold Hidalgo.
Visitation will be held at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. It will resume on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. - 9:30 am. A Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening by Deacon Dwayne Joubert.
