James Fontenot

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for James "Fen" Fenrick Fontenot, on Monday, August 28, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. Monsignor Jeff DeBlanc will officiate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Mr. Fontenot, age 73, a resident of Opelousas, LA, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at Senior Village Nursing Home.

Fenrick was a local Opelousas business man for 28 years. He was a member of Councils 3409 and 1120 of the Knights of Columbus where he held the title of Grand Knight. He was a member and past president of the Woodmen of the World; the 2008 president of the Cruisin' Cajuns and a member of Les Amies. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, camping and attending any kind of sporting event. Fenrick will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, of 53 years, Betty Blanchard Fontenot; his sons, Doyle Fontenot and wife, Debbie; Euney Fontenot and companion, Krista; Andrus "Andy" Fontenot, Sr. and wife, Debbie; his daughters, Claudella Credeur and husband, Kent; Darlene Fontenot; his brother, Daniel Bernard "Benny" Fontenot and wife, Glenda and his sister, Sandra Faye Fontenot and her husband, Brent. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, Krystal, Savanah, Katie, Tanya, Haley, Mark, Seth, Gavin, Drew, Dylan, Brooklyn, Logan, Brittney, Brandon and eight great-grandchildren, Olivia, Kaleb, Evelyn, Addison, Preston, Austin, Riley and John.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Dorothy Hollier Fontenot.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Monday until service time. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Pallbearers will be Mark Credeur, Seth Guillory, Gavin Guillory, Janson Lanclos, Ryan Breaux, Tony Fontenot and honorary pallbearers will be Drew Fontenot, Dylan Fontenot and Brandon Guillory.
