A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for James Roderick Dupre at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Rite of Committal will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park cemetery. The Reverend James Brady will celebrate the Mass and musical selections will be performed by Valerie Andrus.
Mr. Dupre, age 62, who was a native of Plaisance and a resident of Opelousas, died at his residence on Saturday, March 22, 2014, surrounded by his family.
Roderick loved life to the fullest with his family at the forefront. He served in the Army National Guard and was a truck driver for over 25 years. Roderick enjoyed camping with family and friends he adored the time spent with his grandchildren, lounging with his two dogs, caring for his garden, cooking and he loved to eat. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Margie Roberie Dupre of Opelousas son, Scotty P. Dupre and his wife Stephanie of Washington daughter, Shelly Kidder and husband Jerry of Carencro his father, Otis Dupre of Opelousas sister, Gwen Fontenot and her husband Blain of Ville Platte six grandchildren, Landon Kidder, Loghan Kidder, Lane Kidder, Emily Dupre, Katie Dupre, and Sadie Dupre great grandchildren, Brett Guidroz and Kylie Olman.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Ita Dupre and his brothers, Carl and Keith Dupre.
Rodericks pallbearers will be Jerry Kidder, Scotty Dupre, Cliff Brother Ardoin, Jr., Chad Dupre, Mitch LaFleur and Blain Fontenot. Honorary pallbearers will be Corey Ardoin and David Bihm.
The family requests visiting at the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, beginning Monday, March 24, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, March 25, 2014.
Deacon Sammy Diesi will lead the Rosary at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
