James Cain

Opelousas - Funeral services will be held for James M. Cain at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2015, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. Deacon Ulysses Joubert will conduct the funeral service. Interment will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Cain, age 94, a resident of Opelousas, died on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at Senior Village Nursing Home.

James served his country proudly in the United States Navy and was a Ham Radio Operator (K5WGT). He retired from Opelousas General Health System after working many years as an electrician. James also enjoyed taking walks in his neighborhood and visiting with his friends. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Cain Guidroz of Beaumont, Texas; Janet Cain Fitzgerald and husband, David, of Franklin, LA and Carol Zerangue and husband, Howard Zerangue, Jr., of Opelousas, LA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Bailey Cain; his parents, Mortimer C. Cain and Mamie Louise Mahoney; his brother, Mortimer Cain and his sisters, Mamie Helen Cain Bowmann and Minnie Cain Barbre.

Pallbearers will be Howard Zerangue, Jr., Keith Zerangue, Darryll Zerangue, Mark Zerangue, Neal Zerangue and David Fitzgerald.

Visitation will be held at the LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Saturday, February 21, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. A rosary will be prayed at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
