- Funeral services for Jimbo Beaugh, age 76, will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at the Louisiana Memorial United Methodist Church, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park cemetery.
The Reverend Pam Roy will conduct the services.
Mr. Beaugh died at 9:50 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at the Opelousas General Health System.
Jimbo was a United States Army Veteran, having served his country in the Korean Conflict. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 405 and a member of the V.F.W. Opelousas Post 2483 where he served as Chaplain and where he served as the V.F.W. bingo caller for more than 25 years. Mr. Beaugh worked and retired from McDermott offshore construction company where he was employed for 16 years.
Jimbo is described by his family as a man who loved life and loved to visit his friends and family. He was an avid card player, having played everything from bouree to poker and he even enjoyed playing pokeno, where he was the only man at the game.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Wise Beaugh of Arnaudville; sons, Michael Beaugh and wife Beth of Opelousas and David Beaugh and wife Edna of Fort Worth, TX; step-sons, James Stoot and wife Anna of Rayne, Robert Stoot and wife Sue of Arnaudville, Thomas Stoot and wife Kim of Arnaudville; daughter, Patryce Patty Fontenot and husband Kenneth of Opelousas; step-daughter, Cindy S. Hamilton and husband Robert of Opelousas; brother, Paul Beaugh and wife Emma of Ville Platte; sisters, Anna Beaugh Pitre and husband Gerald of Opelousas and Barbara Beaugh Jackson and husband Russell of Arizona; 9 grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodose and Josephine Richard Beaugh; brothers, Ewell and John Beaugh and a sister, Marie Beaugh McLelland.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Monday, August 4, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 5, 2008, until time of service. A rosary will be held on Monday, August 4, 2008, at 7:00 p.m.
