Port Barre - A memorial service will be held for Jack Lavergne, age 68, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Port Barre, LA with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. until service time. Pastor Benji Richard will conduct the service.
Mr. Lavergne, a resident of Lawtell, LA, died on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at the J. Michael Morrow Nursing Home in Arnaudville.
Jack served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Vietnam War while being stationed in Germany. He enjoyed cooking, making people laugh and loved spending time with his family and enjoying family reunions. He also was a "Jack of All Trades" and was very well respected amongst his peers. Jack will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his sons, Blake Lavergne and wife, Ashley, of Port Barre, LA; Ben Lavergne and wife, Tasha, of Tennessee; his daughter, Sonya Bryson and husband, Shane, of Tennessee; his step-son, Michael Chad Guidroz and wife, Shantel, of Morgan City, LA; his brother, Jimmy Lavergne and wife, Iris, of Eunice, LA and his brother-in-law, Learlin Bellard. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Korey Painter and wife, Kiri; Nick Bryson, Tyler Bryson, Shelby Bryson, Landon Lavergne, Brody Lavergne and Easton Lavergne and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin (Ben) Lavergne and Yoland Latiolais Lavergne; his brothers, Leroy Lavergne, Joe Lavergne; his sister, Marie Bellard and his grandson, Christopher Lavergne.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
