Ivel Bertrand

Prairie Ronde A Mass of Christian Burial for Ivel Darbonne Bertrand, age 95, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prairie Ronde, LA. Rite of Committal will follow in the Sacred Heart Church Cemetery with Reverend Ted Broussard as the celebrant.

Mrs. Bertrand, a resident of Prairie Ronde, LA, died on Sunday, November 11, 2012.
Mrs. Bertrand was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Altar Society. She was a member of the 4H Club and was a charter member of the Lawtell Homemakers, where she was a master quilter. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her sons, Hilman Brother Bertrand and wife, Linda, of Slidell, LA Lee Roger Bertrand and wife, Pam, of Metairie, LA her daughters, Nellie Fontenot and husband, Clyde Peanut Fontenot, of Prairie Ronde, LA Vivian Carriere and husband, Cecil, of Prairie Ronde, LA Anna Mae Doucet and husband, John, of Prairie Ronde, LA and Sylvia Bertrand Thomas and Lee Huff of Prairie Ronde, LA. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 36 greatgrandchildren, 27 greatgreat grandchildren and 1 greatgreatgreat grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilman F. Bertrand her parents, Lucien and Leonise Darbonne her daughter, Lena Ray Young her brother, Percy Bertrand her sisters, Lillian Yan Pitre, Mattie Billeaudeau Gertrude NuNu Johnson and Weverly Darbonne.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Tuesday, November 12, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until funeral time at 2:00 p.m.
