Isabelle Doucet

Isabelle Doucet, born Isabelle McCauley, passed away peacefully at her residence at the age of 91. She was a faithful parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church as well as a member of the church rosary group. Isabelle enjoyed many years as a member of the Washington Garden Club.

Isabelle had a fulfilling career working for many years at South Central Bell (BellSouth). Together, with her husband J.B., she also owned and operated Doucet's Auto Sales in Washington, LA for over 50 years.

Born on July 6th, 1931 in Mamou, LA to Hince McCauley and Ethel Bergeron McCauley, Isabelle grew up to be an accomplished woman with a loving family. 

Isabelle will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She leaves behind her loving sons Gregory Doucet (Renee), Danny Doucet (Tina), Joey Doucet (Bridget), daughter Cathy Smith (Bergis), daughter Deanna Ardoin (Scott), brother Evans Bergeron (Sherry), sister Cheryl Guillory; grandchildren, Eric Doucet, Sean Doucet, Felicia Manuel, Steven Smith, Stephanie Burge, Tracey Joubert, Amy Richard, Danielle Fuselier, Byron Doucet, Jordan Doucet, Brooke Walker and Alise Tran as well as numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, J.B. Doucet Jr.,parents, Hince McCauley and Ethel Bergeron McCauley and granddaughter Ashley Doucet Boyd.

Those honored to be pallbearers are Jordan Doucet, Byron Doucet, Seth Richard, Sean Doucet, Steven Smith, Brett Fuselier, and Eric Doucet.

A visitation will be held in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home in Opelousas on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Reverend Matthew Higginbotham at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, LA at 2:00 PM. Rite of Committal and burial will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA. 

Isabelle Doucet will always be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her legacy will continue to inspire all who knew her. May her soul rest in peace.
