Irvin Soileau

Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Irvin James Soileau, age 80, on Monday, August 31, 2009 in the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park. Monsignor Louis Melancon will be the celebrant.

Mr. Soileau who was a native and lifelong resident of Opelousas, died on Saturday, August 29, 2009.

In his younger years, Shorty proudly served in the United States Army Air Corp. in Alaska and Nevada. He was a bartender for many years and later was a Veterinary Assistant. He was a very humble, friendly, generous, and grateful person.

Survivors include his brother, Herbert Soileau and wife Bobbie of Plaisance and two sisters, Betty Cormier of Jennings and Erline Fontenot and husband Earl of Grand Prairie.

He was preceded in death by his parents Xavier and Hilda Lavergne Soileau.

The visitation and funeral service will all be held in the church on Monday, August 31, 2009 beginning at 2:00 p.m. until service time.
