Irene David

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial for Irene Breaux David, age 96, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2011 in the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park. The Reverend Monsignor Paul Metrejean will celebrate the Mass.

Mrs. David, who was a native of Loreauville and a longtime resident of Opelousas, died on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at her residence.

She and husband Henry were the owners of Opelousas Motor Supply. The couple loved to travel and garden together. She loved to feed the wild birds and squirrels that visited her yard. Irene was also a member of the Opelousas Garden Club for many years. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her stepsons, Carrol David and wife Helen of San Marco, TX and Donald David and wife Mary of Houston, TX nieces, Sandra Trahan, Gloria Breaux, Aline Hebert and husband Wallace, Cheryl Robertson and Claire Bryant and husband Ron nephews, Glynn Breaux and wife Mary Ann, Gordon Breaux and wife Debbie, Mark Robertson and wife Connie, and Lawrence Breaux and wife Linda brotherinlaw, Francis Robertson sisterinlaw, Gladys Breaux four step grandchildren numerous great nieces and nephews and a devoted and very dear friend, Maggie F. Halphen.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry David parents, Numa Felias Breaux and Bela Aline Judice Breaux sisters, Candide Breaux, Sister Hyancinth Breaux, Sadie Breaux, and Angel Robertson brothers, Dethel Breaux and Allen Breaux sisterinlaw, Frances G. Breaux and a step grandchild, Donald David, Jr.

Visiting will be observed on Friday, March 4, 2011 from 6:00 9:00 p.m. in the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
