Horace Jagneaux

Funeral services for Horace Joseph Jagneaux, will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, April 13, 2019, in the Skip Montet Chapel in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Opelousas with burial being held at St. Bridget Church Cemetery in Lawtell, LA. Deacon Dwayne Joubert will conduct the service. Visitation will be held in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Saturday, April 13, 2019, from 9:30 AM until time of service at 1:30 PM.

Mr. Jagneaux, age 81, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Horace was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he worked as a mechanic. After returning home from the service, he attended T. H. Harris Technical School and earned his LPN degree and was the only male in his graduating class. After graduation, he worked for Opelousas General Hospital for many years; and then went on to work for the Women's Clinic as an x-ray and lab technician.

Horace loved being outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and barbequing. Every day, he enjoyed talking and having coffee with his dearest friend, Mr. Blackie Soileau. He loved watching car races and spending time with family and friends. Horace never met a stranger and enjoyed meeting and getting to know new people. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Merrie Dupont Jagneaux, of Opelousas, LA; his sons, Konrad Jude Jagneaux, and wife, Sherry, of Opelousas, LA; Phillip Guidroz and wife, Cynthia, of Eunice, LA; Adam Jagneaux of Opelousas, LA; his daughters, Paula Fontenot and husband, Joey, of Church Point, LA; Ami Bergeron and husband, Elroy, of Church Point, LA; Shawn Guidroz of Krotz Springs, LA; Dawn Richard and husband, John, of Port Barre, LA and his sisters, Agnes St. Amand of Broussard, LA and Anna Lois Vige and husband, Stanley, of Lafayette, LA. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Hunter and Chynna Fontenot, Emily and Lane Bergeron, Darby and Devinn Jagneaux, Kayla Breaux, Colby, Corey and Cade Quebedeaux and his great-grandchildren, Wyatt, John, Grant, Nadia, Melanie, Maci, Parker and Rylie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Conrad Jagneaux and Eldine Richard; his first wife, Patty Lee Olivier; his brother, Larry Jagneaux and his grandson, James Guillory, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Hunter Fontenot, Lane Bergeron, Devinn Jagneaux, Colby and Corey Quebedeaux and Phillip Guidroz. Honorary pallbearers will be Cade Quebedeaux and Mr. Blackie Soileau.
