Hilman Theriot

Opelousas - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Hilman Theriot on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas.  Father Sonny Brown will Celebrate the Mass.  Rite of Committal will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, La.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hilman Theriot, age 81, on Tuesday, May 10, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Hilman served his country proudly in the Army National Guard and was a member of the Opelousas Elks Lodge for many years.  He worked in the oil and gas industry and was employed by Texas Eastern Gas Pipeline Company.  Hilman was an avid LSU football and baseball fan.  He enjoyed woodworking and mostly enjoyed vacationing with his family.  Hilman was a loving husband, son, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Peggy Guidry Theriot, of Opelousas, La.; his son, Phillip Wayne Theriot and wife, Aimee LaBiche Theriot, of New Iberia, La.; his daughters, Jessica Theriot Smith and husband, Dwayne Smith, of Lake Charles, La. and Jennifer Theriot Turner and husband, Ryan Turner, Sr., of Carencro, La.  He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Brooke Smith, Morgan Smith Bass (Michael Bass), Ryan Smith, Peyton Theriot, Gavin Domengeaux, Grant Domengeaux, Ryan Turner, Jr. (RJ) and two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Bass and Owen Bass.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Theresa Lavergne Theriot and his brothers, Leo Theriot, Robert Theriot and Charles Theriot.

Pallbearers will be Peyton Theriot, Ryan Smith, Gavin Domengeaux, Grant Domengeaux, Dwayne Smith, and Ryan Turner, Sr.

The family will receive guests at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on Thursday, May 12, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will reopen on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.  A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday evening.
