Hermina LaGrange, age 92, a resident of Lafayette, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Hermina Lavergne LaGrange will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Father Jude Thierry will celebrate the Mass. The Rite of Committal and burial will be held at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery in Opelousas, Louisiana.
Pallbearers will be Eric Soileau, Ryan LaGrange, Ayden Fontenot, Terry Lavergne, Dennis Lavergne and Mike Robin.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the Skip Montet Memorial Chapel at LaFond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. A Rosary service will be held Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m.
Hermina dedicated much of her life to serving others. She was a very active member of the Louisiana Orphan Train Museum, contributing her time and passion to preserve the history and stories of those who came before. Additionally, she took great pride in her work with the Altar Society at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas, Louisiana, where her faith and commitment were evident to all who knew her.
Her love for family was profound, and she expressed this through her culinary skills, often cooking especially baking for her family and friends. Hermina found joy in nurturing those around her, bringing everyone together over hearty meals. She also enjoyed watching sports on television, a pastime that brought excitement into her home. Her passion for gardening allowed her to cultivate not only beautiful plants but also cherished memories spent outdoors.
Hermina is survived by her son, James Kenneth “Kenny” LaGrange and wife, Linzee; her daughter, Sue Soileau and husband, Neil; her grandchildren, Kristin Cooley (Jacob), Ryan LaGrange (Kortney), and Eric Soileau (Summer); and her great-grandchildren, Ayden Fontenot, Brody Soileau, Adilyn Cooley, Cole Cooley, and Archer LaGrange. She also leaves behind dear family members, Danny Bills, Jon Bills, and Gordon Bills.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adam LaGrange, Jr.; her parents, Elvin Lavergne and Marie Richard Lavergne; her brothers, Wilton Lavergne, Buddy Lavergne, Harry Lavergne, Hillman Lavergne, and Eugene Lavergne; and her sister, Mary Robin.
Hermina Lagrange's legacy will continue to thrive through the love and memories she created with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
