Herman Soileau

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Herman Joseph Soileau, age 73, at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas. Rite of Committal will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Reverend Albert Nunez as the celebrant.

Mr. Soileau, a native and resident of Washington, La., died on Saturday, October 06, 2012.

Herman served his country honorably in the United States Army. He worked and retired as a farmer who enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Roswita Becker Soileau of Washington three daughters, Manuela Soileau of Washington, Patsy Hargroder of Opelousas, and Brenda Soileau of Lafayette one son, Tommy Soileau of Washington five grandchildren, Dustin Hebert, Megan Hargroder, Christopher Hargroder, Krysten Hargroder, and Amanda Sylvester three brothers, Aubrey Soileau, Charles Soileau, and Bobby Soileau.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Ophelia Morain Soileau and one sister, Evelina Guilbeau.

Pallbearers will include Dustin Hebert, Christopher Hargroder, Tony Soileau, Jeff Soileau, Brent Soileau, and Jason Thibodeaux.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Monday, October 8, 2012 from 3:00 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Tuesday at 7:00 a.m. until funeral time. A rosary will be lead by Reverend Albert Nunez at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
