Opelousas - Funeral services for Herman Paul Kerry, Sr., affectionately known as Pookie, age 68, will be held on Friday, June 27, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at the Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
The Reverend James Nguyen will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial.
Mr. Kerry, a resident of Melville, died at 9:56 a.m. on June 25, 2008 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Mr. Kerry was an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast who loved to hunt, fish, play pool and watch baseball games. He will be missed by his family and friends and all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Credeur Kerry of Melville; his mother, Mrs. Jessie Bernice Richard Kerry; two sons, Herman Paul Kerry, Jr. and wife Melissa of Krotz Springs and Jesse Joseph Kerry of Melville; three daughters, Debbie Popps and husband Daniel of Melville, Pam Rineheart and husband Ervin of Magee, MS., and Vicki Hebert and husband Donald of Bayou Pigeon; a brother, Jesse Therman Kerry of Baker; four sisters, Estelle Marino of Baton Rouge, Margie Lodridge of Gorham, Lois Lambert of Baton Rouge and Delores Wagner of Pearland, TX; 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Kerry; a granddaughter, Hope Landry and two great granddaughters, Brittany and Candice Landry.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Thursday, June 26, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. until time of service on Friday, June 27, 2008. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
