Helen Venable

Lawtell Helen Boudreaux Venable of Lawtell went to be with the Lord on December 26, 2013. She fought a great fight and ran a long race and now is in her heavenly mansion with many of her family members. Mrs. Venable was born on November 21, 1916. She was 97 years old.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Helen Boudreaux Venable at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013, in the St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell, La. Reverend Ted Broussard will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will be held in the St. Bridget Church Cemetery.

She was a wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother. Her family and faith were her life. She loved to garden, sew, cook, read and travel. Mrs. Venable can be remembered for her work at the former Lawtell High School and Elementary School. She worked as a St. Landry Parish school cafeteria supervisor at these schools providing wonderful meals for the children for whom many, was their only meal of the day. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.

Survivors are her sons, James Venable and wife, Mona Lisa, of Lawtell, La. Ray Venable and wife, Judy, of Lawtell, La. her daughters, Lora Venable Moreau of Lafayette, La. Ramona Venable Mouton and husband, William, of Lafayette, La. her sisters, Rose Joubert of Lawtell, La. and Elaine Chick Joubert of Lawtell, La. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 24 greatgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Isaac Venable her parents, Amos and Francis Pitre Boudreaux and infant son, Isaac Venable, Jr. her brothers, Norwood Boudreaux, Wilfred Boudreaux, A.J. Boudreaux her sisters, Willie Mae Lafleur, Mildred Boudreaux her grandson, Jeffery Moreau her soninlaw, James Moreau.

Visiting will begin at the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas on Sunday, December 29, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until service time. A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.
