Opelousas A Funeral Service will be held for Helen Elder Sutherlin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2013, in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, LA. Burial will follow in the St. Landry Catholic Church Cemetery in Opelousas, LA. Reverend Austin Leger will conduct the service.

Mrs. Sutherlin, age 88, died on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at Senior Village Nursing Home in Opelousas, LA.

Helen enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing and cooking. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her.

Survivors are her daughter, Betty Sutherlin Schuler of Siloam Springs, Oklahoma her brother, Roy Elder and wife, Justine, of Opelousas, LA and her sisters, Evelyn Foti and Faye McBroom. She is also survived by her two grandchildren, Isaac Schuler and Dana Schuler.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Sutherlin her parents, Guy and Hattie Lee Jones Elder her brother, Guy Elder, Jr. and her sisters, Eddie Lee Comeaux, Ruth Elder, Katherine Dommert, and Willie Elizabeth Russell.

Visiting hours will begin on Monday, August 26, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m.
