Hazel Herpin

Opelousas A Mass of Christian Burial for Hazel B. Herpin, age 84, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2011, in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, La. followed by interment in the Bellevue Memorial Cemetery in Opelousas, La. The Reverend James Brady will conduct the Mass.

Readers will be Kellie Simoneaux, Allie Simoneaux and Samantha Darbonne. Gift bearers will be Molly Gremillion and Amy Simoneaux.

Mrs. Herpin, a resident of Opelousas, La., died on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas.

Hazel was a graduate of Opelousas High School and Our Lady of the Lake Nursing School. She was a parishioner of St. Landry Catholic Church, a member of St. Landry Catholic Church choir for 35 years and also a Eucharistic Minister of St. Landry Catholic Church. Also, she was a retired registered nurse in Opelousas for 48 years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her daughters, Barbara LeBlanc and husband, Mark, of Opelousas, La. Susan Simoneaux and husband, Don, of Washington, La. Jolene Gremillion and husband, David, of Opelousas, La. Bonnie Darbonne and husband, Dale, of Washington, La. her step daughter, Christine Ryder and husband, Charles, of Opelousas, La. her stepsons, Randy Herpin and wife, Linnie, of Leonville, La. Freddie Herpin of Leonville, La. and her brother, Gerald Mouton of Houma, La. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Nicholas LeBlanc, Kellie Simoneaux, Allie Simoneaux, Amy Simoneaux, Molly Gremillion, Samantha Darbonne, Michael Darbonne 7 stepgrandchildren, 20 stepgreatgrandchildren and 1 stepgreatgreatgrandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Beedy Herpin her parents, Louis and Inez Bernard her sisters, Ethleen Roy, Elodie Fontenot and her brother, L.V. Bernard.

Visiting hours will be observed in the LafondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas, beginning on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will reopen on 9:00 a.m. on Saturday until service time. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Pallbearers will be: Mark LeBlanc, Don Simoneaux, David Gremillion, Dale Darbonne, Nicholas LeBlanc, Michael Darbonne and Louis Butch Fontenot.
