Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie C. Childs will be held on Saturday, July 21st,2007 at 10:30AM at Louisiana Memorial United Methodist Church in Opelousas with the interment at Myrtle Grove Cemetery. The Rev. Pam Roy will conduct the services.

Mrs. Childs, age 91, a resident of Opelousas, died on Tuesday, July 17th at Prompt Succor Nursing Home in Opelousas. She was a life long member of Louisiana Memorial United Methodist Church where she sang in the Choir and was active in the Womens Wesleyan Society and the Louisiana Methodist Cursillo and was also active with the Young at Heart and was a member of the Opelousas Chapter of AARP and a volunteer at Opelousas General Hospital. She also sang with a group of local musicians and singers known as Sues Singalongs. Mrs. Childs, a bank teller, retired after 36 years of service from St. Landry Bank and Trust..

She is survived by a daughter; Margaret Salvesen of Cape May, New Jersey, a brother; George C. Childs and his wife Ingrid, of Baton Rouge, La and a sister; Myra C. Byrd of Houma, La., a sister-in-law; Henrietta C. Childs of Opelousas, 3 step-grandchildren; Elizabeth Jones of Honalulu, Hawaii, John O. Salvesen of Atlanta, Ga. and Christopher Salvesen and 2 step-great-grandchildren Hunter and Eric.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Nathan Marion Childs Sr. and Asa Pulford Childs, her husband; John E. Childs, her brothers; Nathan M. Childs Jr and Louis P. Childs and sisters; Augusta Bussie Rose, Johnnie Mornhinveg and Edwina Stagg.

Visitation will be on Saturday at Louisiana Memorial United Methodist Church from 9:00AM until time of service. The family has requested that donations may be made to Louisiana Memorial United Methodist Church, 515 E. Bellevue St., Opelousas La. 70570.
