Harris Morain

August 28, 1940 — February 4, 2014

Washington A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Harris J. Crumb Morain on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, LA. Rite of Committal will follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA. The Reverend Monsignor Keith J. DeRouen will be the Celebrant and the Reverend Jared G. Suire will also be officiating the Mass. Sharee D. Hunter will provide musical selections for the service.

Harris Morain, age 73, who was a resident of Washington, LA, died on Tuesday, February 04, 2014 surrounded by his family after a 13 year battle of cancer.

Harris or Crumb as he was affectionately known, was a retired welding inspector for Florida Gas Transmission. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and frogging. He loved spending time with his family at home and at his camps, near home and Natchez, Miss. He was proud to serve on the Board of Directors of Sugar House Hunting Club. Crumb was very fond of animals, especially his dogs Sparky and Tiny. Harris was known for his love of family and friends and endless humor. He had a heart that was a fountain of gladness, making everything in its vicinity freshen into smiles. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife Rebecca Fruge Morain of Washington, LA three daughters, Vanessa Morain of Port Barre, LA, Yvette Talley and husband Jeff of Scott, LA, Bridget Robin and husband Johnny of Port Barre, LA three sons, Courtney Morain and wife Amanda, Scott Morain and fiance Stephanie Ardoin, and Lance Fruge and fiance Melissa Ward, all of Washington, LA one sister, Ginger Morain Myers and husband Keith Myers of Sunset, LA one brother Edward J. Morain and wife Dona of Washington, LA 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Lorena Dugas Morain and a sister, Josephine Morain.

Harris Morain will be escorted to his final resting place by his grandsons that will be pallbearers, Justin Speyrer, Seth Talley, T.J. Talley, Brooks Soileau, Dakota Morain, and Tristan Morain. Honorary pallbearers will also be his grandsons, Joshua Morain, Parker and Bryson Fruge and his great grandsons, Carson Speyrer, Christian Speyrer, Kadyn Talley, Ethan Soileau and Cade Soileau.

Visitation will be held at the LaFondArdoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Wednesday, February 5, 2014 from 4:00 10:00 p.m. and will continue on Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until service time. Deacon Jerome Collins will lead the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
